Simpsons avatars still rule

It’s been almost a year since the Simpsons movie came out and I still get a kick out of creating my own Simpsons avatar. Every couple of months I’ll make a new one. I don’t know if it’s because you secretly want to hang out at Moe’s pub, or have Homer as a drinking buddy.

When online marketers consider creating a widget or game, the Simpsons Movie site should be kept for reference. It’s about as sticky (no pun towards Homer’s donuts) as they come.

Here are some of the reasons that I think the site is successful:

• Extremely easy to navigate and the user interface for creating an avator is about as simple as they come.
• Flash loads quickly.
• You don’t have to register! Imagine that, a site is offering a value added service with no registration required.
• Numerous tools to allow you to republish content.
